Asten draws on over a decade of combined scientific, financial, market and product analysis experience necessary to ask, and answer, the right questions for thorough due diligence.

Francesca D. Wuttke, Ph.D.

 

Prior to forming Asten in 2007 Dr. Wuttke was licensing academic technologies at Mount Sinai School of Medicine's Office of Industrial Liaison where she successfully negotiated over 150 academic and commercial agreements. At Mount Sinai, Dr. Wuttke undertook a systematic review of the licensing office’s activities with a focus on expanding the translational medicine efforts within Mount Sinai and on establishing and increasing relationships between Mount Sinai and industry. The goal of this work was to create a synergistic culture of commercial development of faculty innovations.Before joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Wuttke performed due diligence and market and product analysis at Symphony Capital, a biotech private equity fund with $315MM of committed capital under management. She was involved in all aspects of the investment process, including diligence on over 150 potential investment opportunities and deep dive diligence on over 15 portfolios across numerous therapeutic areas with over 50 products.  Dr. Wuttke was also a consultant at Wilkerson Partners, a health care consultancy, where she worked with multinational companies. Projects included the development of strategic plans with a focus on potential acquisitions, pipeline analysis of the US subsidiary of a global generics company and R&D prioritization with a focus on licensing strategies. Dr. Wuttke completed her doctoral work in Pharmacology at the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell University where she received a number of academic honors. Before beginning her graduate studies, she worked as an HIV/AIDS Clinical Research Coordinator at Beth Israel Medical Center AIDS Clinical Trials Unit managing a broad range of trials. Dr. Wuttke earned her B.A. in Biology and Society at Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences.
